Try to scratch a brick with a nail or screwdriver. It should not be possible to do so.

They should produce a sharp ringing sound, not a dull thud.

Ask the builder or distributor for for the region. Check that it is genuine fired clay brick.

to see how long it has been on the market and whether it has had problems before. Contact your homebuilder if you notice a problem.
